The Reluctant Medium:
A Psychotherapist’s Journey

When I first met Sareeta, my new client, I was struck by her extraordinary beauty, with her honey-gold skin, long, lustrous black hair, and mysterious dark eyes. But despite her grace and dignified composure, it became clear in our session that she was in deep mourning for her beloved brother, who had been killed in a car accident. His name was Navin and he was 26 years old. Sareeta and Navin had been very close; she adored him and described him as a kind-hearted person who strove to do right by people.

During our session I had received a strong sense of Navin’s presence, but it was a feeling I couldn’t put into words at the time. I felt a great amount of empathy and compassion for her,  and a sense that there was something more here, that I had just touched the surface of something. With this I fell asleep.
